Provisional Licence Application

To start your driving experience you are required, by law to hold a provisional drivers licence. You can either apply for yours online or pick up a D1 Form from your local post office. By applying online you get a reduced fee of £34.

You can apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your 17th birthday, however it will not become valid until you are seventeen.


Theory Test Application

You might be feeling enthusiastic and wanting to get your theory test complete, and we can help you with this by using our complimentary 'Theory Test Pro' training aid so you are prepared to take your theory test.

To complete the online form you require the following documents:

  • - Your current provisional licence
  • - A debit/credit card to pay the £25 fee


Once you have received confirmation of the date and time of the theory test, you will need to present the following documents before you can take the test:

  • - Your signed photo card licence
  • - Signed paper counterpart
  • - Booking reference number


Practical Driving Test Application

To take the practical test you must hold a provisional licence and have passed your Theory test. You can then book your practical test through the following channels;

  • By Phone - 0300 200 1122 (calls charged at local rate)
  • By Post - Pick up an application form from any theory or practical test centres.

The fee for a car test is £62.00 weekdays and £75.00 for weekends and weekday evenings.

You must present the following documents before taking the practical test:

  • - Your valid photo card licence
  • - Your theory test pass certificate
  • - Your appointment letter


Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Please prepare your documents before you arrive at the test centre. If you forget to bring them with you your test will not be carried out and your fee will not be reimbursed. You will then have to re-apply for another test date and pay a further fee.
